17U - BLACK COACH

Coach Alan Aranas -  Alan finished his 1st season coaching the J.V. Volleyball team atEdison High School (Alexandria, VA). He had previously coached the Edison High School Freshmen Volleyball Team for 2 seasons and the F.V.C. 14s Gold Team for 1 season. Alan has played volleyball for Salem High School (Virginia Beach, VA) from 1994-1998. During his years at V.C.U. he has played for club teams at the Richmond Volleyball center. Alan has also played leisurely during his graduate term at New York University then moving to Northern Virginia in 2005. 
Alan coaching certifications include, USAV IMPACT certification, USAV CAP I certification, and a Gold Medal Squared clinic participant 2008. Alan is currently teaching strings for Loudoun County Public Schools and private music. Alan is looking forward to a very competitive, challenging and fun 2009 club volleyball season! 

 
Asst. Coach: Petra Bendzulla -  Petra is in her first season coaching with Franconia Volleyball Club. She started coaching as Coach Alan Aranas' Assistant Coach for the Junior Varsity Volleyball team at Edison High School (Alexandria, VA). Petra has helped coach the Edison Eagle's  best winning season at Edison High School this past season (2008).  She has played Volleyball for various teams during her High School years and College career in Germany. During the Summer Petra enjoys  playing Beach and Indoor Volleyball. She is currently an Architect working at the Dulles International Airport in Dulles, VA.  Petra is excited about coaching the 17U BLACK Volleyball Team for the Franconia Volleyball Club. 

16U - GOLD COACH

Coach: Kimberly Kolden - Kimberly coached 8 years for Springfield Youth Club, (including 4 years all-stars and league director for 3 years). She is starting her 5th year at Club Level  (Metro American x 2 , and on her 3rd year with Franconia Volleyball Club); and looking forward to another great season. Kimberly is IMPACT certified.

16U - BLACK COACH

Coach: John Wilson -  John is in his second year coaching with Franconia Volleyball Club. John coached the Metro American's 15s team in the 2006 Season; he also coaches for the Springfield Youth Club Volleyball and has done so for the past 5 years.

John is an End User Support IT Regional Manager working for Unisys. He is currently supporting a DHS contract in Washington, DC. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany; he is a veteran of the GULF War.  

John's Hobbies include playing and coaching volleyball, playing flag football, live music, playing the guitar and spending time with his D.O.G.

15U GOLD COACHING TEAM

 Coach: Tracy Edmond - Tracy is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and played the last two years in the Fort Belvoir Military Intramural League. He has coached and assistant coached a myriad of youth sports the last five years to include baseball, basketball, football and volleyball. He is also IMPACT certified.

 

15U - BLACK COACH

Owen Davis  -  Owen is a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and works as the career field manager for the Services Career Field.  He has coached, played and officiated volleyball for over 25 years.  Owen has 2 adult children and two pre-teen boys who also play volleyball.  This is his third year with Franconia and has also coached SYC Boys volleyball for the past 3 years. Owen is IMPACT Certified.

14U - GOLD COACH

Sharon Ponton - Currently the Girls Varsity Volleyball coach for J.E.B .Stuart High School. Played at George Wythe High School and four years at Radford University.  Began coaching at J.E.B. Stuart in 2003 after resigning as the Certified Athletic Trainer for the Raiders for 13 years.  NFICEP and IMPACT certified.

13U - GOLD COACH

Jay Burke - Jay has coached 4 years for the Springfield Youth Club Volleyball Program, (4 years all-stars and league director for 2 1/2 years). Jay is in the process for IMPACT certification (JAN 08). Jay has coached various sports (Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball, Football and Ice Hockey) and teaches at sport specific clinics (Football, Ice Hockey) at all age levels from 4yrs old and up through College student athletes.
